The Nomadic Archivists Project (NAP) is seeking a project-based Archival Assistant, preferably based in Philadelphia or New York City, to support archival projects in the city and assist with the ongoing organization and care of the NAP archive. This position runs through June 2027, with the possibility of extension. Work will take place across multiple settings, including partner organizations, community spaces, and individuals’ homes, as well as remotely.
Responsibilities may include processing collections, creating inventories, digitizing materials, organizing digital files, conducting research, documenting findings, and assisting with community-centered archival projects. The position may also support the development and maintenance of NAP’s own organizational archive, mainly digital records (photographs, audiovisual materials, project documentation, and administrative files).
We’re especially interested in someone who is flexible, dependable, and excited about Black archives, cultural memory, and hands-on archival work.
