RESIDENCY: Must be residents of New York State

MINIMUM FOR PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT:
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s Degree in Librarianship from a library school that is
accredited by the American Library Association or recognized
by the New York State Education Department; AND four (4) years
of professional library experience subsequent to MLS
SPECIAL FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS:
REQUIREMENTS: Eligibility for a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional
certificate at the time of filing application; possession of the
certificate at the time of appointment.
PRIMARY JOB Serves as head of a department, branch or other major library
DUTIES: department or unit in a library. This position involves
responsibility for professional supervision of the work of a major
library unit. Work is performed under general supervision.
Supervision is exercised over the work of professional and nonprofessional associates. Does related work as required.
